Sunderland came from behind to beat Wigan Athletic 4-2 and end their nine-match winless run in the Premier League on Saturday.

Egyptian ace Ahmed Elmohamady featured for the Black Cats throughout the 90 minutes of the game.

An Elmo foul caused Wigan to score the second goal.

Mohamed Diame put Wigan ahead after 52 minutes before the hosts replied fiercely with four goals, thanks to strikes from Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Henderson (A brace) and Stephane Sessegnon.

Franco Di Santo pulled one back for Wigan in the dying minutes.

The game was the 500th for Sunderland coach Steve Bruce.

Having registered their first victory at the Stadium of Light since 1 January 2011, Sunderland moved up to 10th place on 41 points.
