Harras Hodoud registered an unconvincing 2-1 victory over DR Congo’s Motema Pembe in the African Confederation Cup round of 16 first leg.

Ahmed Hassan Mekki headed Hodoud into a 17th minute lead, but the visitors equalized through Tresor Matondo just four minutes later.

Nine minutes after the break, Hodoud were awarded a penalty after center-half Ahmed Safi was shoved inside the area by an opposition defender.

Safi’s defense mate Ahmed Saied ‘Ouka’ stepped up confidently to dispatch his penalty past the Motema keeper for the winner.

Hodoud’s continuous pressure came to no avail as the visitors held on to their vital away goal.

The second leg takes place in Kinshasa next month.
