Ahli midfielder Mohamed Shawky refused to elaborate on his spat with teammate Mohamed Fadl in order not to 'blow things out of proportion', saying it was no big deal.

The Cairo outfit decided Monday to heavily fine both players in the wake of their verbal exchange during the team's trip back to Egypt from Zambia, where they played out a goalless draw with ZESCO United in the CAF Champions League.

It's understood the argument erupted when Fadl got angry at some of his teammates for larking around, which prompted Shawky to blame him.

Former Middlesbrough man Shawky told FilGoal.com: "My relationship with Fadl is great and won't be affected by this situation.

"I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to blow things out of proportion, although some of the stories about what happened depict me as the culprit."

On the decision to fine him and Fadl, Shawky said: "No one informed me of any deduction. I will wait till the end of the month to make sure that it's not a rumor."

It was reported the argument between Fadl and Shawky could have developed into a fist fight if it wasn't for football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz, who stepped in to end it.
