The young Pharaohs will play at least two games against Panama and Austria during the holy month, but Al-Sayed sees an advantage in the timing of the tournament.

“I think that the spiritual aspect of such a holy month could help the players produce better performances,” the former Ahli defender told the Egyptian FA’s official site.

Before clashing with Panama and Austria, Egypt will be off to a tough start against four-time champions Brazil on July 29.

“Brazil are one of the powerhouses who should be highly respected, but I am glad we will play against such a great team because this will help the players improve,” added Al-Sayed.

The former ENPPI manager is targeting a top-four finish, hoping to replicate the feat of Shawki Gharib in Argentina 2001.

“We should work hard to achieve an advanced position. At least we should be able to reach the semi-finals or win a medal,” he said.
