The Egyptian FA have finally named Ugandan referee Ali Kalyango, who was in charge of Ahli’s game against ZESCO United, for Tuesday’s league clash between Gouna and Zamalek.
The decision, which came upon the request of hosts Gouna, was made after the Refereeing Committee initially named two local referees for the game.
After facing difficulties finding a foreign ref, Refereeing Committee chief Essam Siyam announced that Yasser Mahmoud will be in charge of the game.
The committee then handed the responsibility to Mohamed Farouk, only for Zamalek to protest.
Finally, Kalyango, who is still in Egypt after officiating Sunday’s Champions League tie, accepted the FA’s proposal to solve the dilemma.
"The Ugandan ref choice is welcomed, but why change three referees in one day?!" Gouna spokesman Ahmed Al-Sohaifi told FilGoal.com.
