Leaders Zamalek saw their six-point lead over their arch-rivals cut to a single point this week, following their unexpected loss at lowly Gouna.

However, Gaafar is unfazed by the recent drop as he seems confident of the Whites’ chances to win their first title in six years.

“Zamalek are done with all the tough tests this season, whereas Ahli are still ahead of some very difficult games,” the 25-year-old said.

“We played against Petrojet, Gouna and Ismaili away and I believe our path is much easier towards the title as we’re still top.”
