The English paper claims that the Egypt midfielder, who runs out of contract by the New Year, is close to signing a pre-agreement with Alex McLeish’s side for next season.

Shikabala has yet to reach an agreement with Zamalek over a new deal as he looks determined to return to European football, amid serious talks with Belgian champions Anderlecht.

The 25-year-old had a spell at Greece with PAOK Salonika a few years ago, but was forced to return due to military duty.

He is currently the top scorer of the Egyptian Premier League with 11 goals.
