"I haven't renewed my contract yet," he told FilGoal.com. "If I don't get a spot in the African squad, there will be no reason for me to extend my stay.

"I do want to stay at Ahli but I refuse to have no real role on the team."

Egypt skipper Hassan, who had cruciate ligament surgery last year, will see out his current contract in the summer.

"I don't play regularly these days pursuant to the coaching staff’s directives. I have suffered a serious [knee] injury, so when I hit peak form I will regain my status," said the 36-year-old.
