Zamalek failed to emulated their last year's feat – winning the IHF Super Globe bronze medal – as they lost 23-28 to Lebanon's Sadd in the handball competition's third-place match Wednesday.

The Whites finished third in the Super Globe last year after beating the same team, while Spain's Ciudad Real won the title.

Like in their last year's corresponding match, each team conceded only one goal in the first five minutes.

Zamalek were struggling to break down Sadd's solid defense as the first half ended 10-13 for the latter side.

Sadd managed to widen the gap in the second half to secure a deserved win.

Zamalek qualified for the IHF Super Globe this year upon winning the African Handball Cup Winners' Cup for the second year running.
