Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan said – shortly after he became a German citizen by naturalization – that he might not carry on his career with the Bundesliga side.

Egypt ace Zidan was granted German citizenship along with his Turkish teammate Nuri Sahin in the wake of Dortmund's league triumph.

"I applied for nationality as I live in Germany for years and I have past all tests and fulfilled all terms," he told Al-Hayat TV.

The 29-year-old cited lack of first-team football at Signal Iduna Park as a reason to consider moving away.

"I might not be with Dortmund next season; I don't want to waste another term on the bench," said Zidan, who was greatly hampered by a serious knee injury he had sustained last year.

"I was a regular before the injury but when I came back I turned into a third or fourth choice for the head coach (Jurgen Klopp)."
