Sunderland have achieved their targeted top-10 finish in the English Premier League by thrashing bottom side West Ham 3-0.

Egypt full-back Ahmed Elmohamady played his seventh straight 90 minutes, setting up the opener for Boudewijn Zenden with a pin-point cross.

Stephane Sessegnon doubled the visitors’ lead after the break and Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros came off the bench to complete the rout in injury time.

Sunderland finish 10th on 47 points and a better-goal difference than close rivals West Brom.

Elsewhere, Blackpool lost 4-2 at champions Manchester United to join the relegated West Ham after just one season in the top flight.

Birmingham conceded in injury time to lose 2-1 at Tottenham and complete the demoted trio into the Championship.
