“Afrotto is one of Ahli’s loyal boys and he was very flexible during the negotiations. He had no conditions,” Ahli marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told the club’s website.

Like Shehab, Afrotto expressed his frustration at the lack of first team football, having played no games under Manuel Jose since the Portuguese’s return in January.

Loan deals

The livewire midfielder is, however, likely to be loaned out this summer in an attempt to get some regular football elsewhere.

“We are currently in talks with Kuwait’s Qadsia and Ittihad of Alexandria who are both interested in Afrotto,” Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com.

Ittihad, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are also keen on renewing the loan of Ahli striker Hani Al-Egeizi.
