Abdul-Wahed, who was snubbed in Egypt’s last game against Brazil, put in a stellar performance to earn a clean sheet and preserve his side’s 1-0 slender lead against Wadi Degla in the Egyptian league on Saturday.
“Even though it was a tricky game, Abdul-Wahed dealt with it confidently and proved his credentials as Egypt’s best goalie for the time being,” former Egypt goalkeeping coach Soliman told FilGoal.com.
“He was able to protect his goal against several clear-cut chances that would have denied us the win.
“I thank him for his display and I hope he would continue that way.”
Abdul-Shafi fit
Meanwhile, Zamalek left-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi should be fit for the upcoming league game against Gouna on Wednesday after he limped off the Degla game with a groin complaint.
“It’s a minor injury, it won’t prevent him from featuring against Gouna on Wednesday,” Zamalek doctor Ayman Farid told FilGoal.com.
Abdul-Shafi, who nearly played every game for Zamalek last season, has been out for almost two months with a nagging hamstring injury before making his comeback in the 1-1 draw at Petrojet last week.
