Fact: He was the youngest member of Egypt’s U-20 World Cup squad in Colombia 2011.
3- Ahmed Al-Shennawi

He’s got…the confidence of a veteran despite his young age, and is undoubtedly the potential heir to Essam Al-Hadari’s legacy as Egypt number one.
Could be better if…he managed to deal with crosses more comfortably.
Fact: The first African goalkeeper to be nominated for CAF’s Young Player of the Year Award in 2011.
4- Marwan Mohsen

He’s got…the physique to play as a target man, the ability to cause havoc inside the box and a cool finishing touch.
Could be better if…he left Petrojet for Europe before it is too late.
Fact: Mohsen scored on his senior Egypt debut in Sierra Leone in a CAN 2012 qualifier, before netting a double in the next game against Niger.
5- Ahmed Mekki

Club: Harras Hodoud
Position: Striker

He’s got…the forward style of Robin van Persie.
Could be better if…he worked harder to make his presence more felt on the international stage, given that his goalscoring record is far from impressive.
Fact: Mekki was the Egyptian Premier League second top-scorer before the competition was called off last season with nine goals.
6-Ahmed Temsah

Position: Forward - Winger

He’s got…the ability to dribble with both feet, decent pace and the courage to take on defenders and run into space with the ball.
Could be better if…he made good use of his unfancied international experience by kicking his game up several notches before his club’s poor status affects him.
Fact: Remarkably, Temsah played more international games than the top-flight club appearances he made during his whole career so far!
7- Bassem Ali

He’s got…the skill and pace to surge and cross from the right; a typical offensive full-back.
Could be better if…he improved his defensive attributes and became more solid when his team don’t have the ball.
Fact: Ali has never represented Egypt at a junior or senior level competition.
8- Ahmed Ali

Position: Striker
Senior international caps: 7 (4 goals)
He’s got…the resilience of a battering ram and a clinical finish as well; a combination that keeps him in Ahli’s shortlist of strikers despite not being so young.
Could be better if…he significantly improved in terms of consistency, given that he is already 26.
Fact: Ali found the net in his first two minutes with Egypt, scoring a brace on his debut against DR Congo in 2010.
9- Islam Ramadan
Age: 22
Club: Harras Hodoud
Position: Left-back

He’s got…the discipline and professionalism that most of Egyptian youngsters lack; attributes which make him an orthodox defender.
Could be better if…he developed his attacking mentality with better crossing and presence in the final third.
Fact: Ramadan started all 14 league games for Hodoud last season when the Alexandrians were leading before the competition was called off.
10- Amr Al-Sulaya

Club: Ismaili
Position: Defensive midfielder
Senior international caps: 10
He’s got…the vision, figure, long-range shooting of a commanding midfielder; could be the next Hosni Abd-Rabou for Egypt.
Could be better if…he avoided continuous injuries at such an early stage of his career.
Fact: Al-Sulaya scored his first-ever senior goal at the age of 19, courtesy of a crucial winner in Ismaili’s 1-0 win over Zamalek in 2009.
