Zamalek skipper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed has been disciplined by the club after being accused of blasting the board in public.

The veteran goalie has been blamed by the Whites board for lashing out at club officials over the players’ wage problem, a long-standing crisis that has blighted the Cairo giants during the past years.

Zamalek said that Abdul-Wahed has been accordingly fined EGP 75,000, while the long-serving keeper refuses to be summoned for questioning.

"I didn't affront any official in the club's board," the 35-year-old guardian told FilGoal.com.

"I had already taken permission from - manager - Jorvan Vieira before talking about the players' wage problem.

"I urged the players not to bring up the issue in the media and just focus on the pitch as I'm solely entitled to talk about it.

"I didn't do anything wrong to be summoned for investigation."

Abdul-Wahed, Zamalek's first choice keeper for over a decade now, was involved in a similar issue nearly two years ago when he led a group of 12 players to file a complaint against the club over unpaid wages.

The Egypt international’s controversial quotes followed this week’s league win over Arab Contractors when he urged the board to ‘do their job’ as the team continue to impress.

It is understood that Zamalek players are ready to support their captain in his stance against the board.
