“I will enter the elections after the end of Zaher’s tenure next year,” Abou-Rida, a member of the FIFA executive committee, told Modern Kora TV.

“I feel I can provide something to Egyptian football in the upcoming years.”

Abou-Rida stepped down from his position as vice-chairman of the FA a few months ago due to what he described as ‘unacceptable individual decisions’ by Zaher.

Bradley decision

Abou-Rida criticized the recent appointment of American Bob Bradley as manager of the Egypt first team, indicating that former assistant coach Shawki Gharib was the perfect man to succeed Hassan Shehata.

“The poor resources of the FA forced Zaher to bring Bradley, who has no experience in Africa,” he said.

“I would have preferred someone who has better knowledge about African football. I think Shawki Gharib had what it takes to take over from Shehata.”
