The Portuguese started his career as Bobby Robson's assistant manager at Nou Camp a decade ago and has been increasingly one of Europe's finest tacticians ever since.

"The philosophy of Barca has influenced me more than any other coach," he said at the university.

"It is a club with a unique culture. They were four vital years I had there. It was there where I clarified the concepts that I put into practice today as a coach."

Mourinho, won the Champions League with Porto in 2005, indicated that he holds little importance to personal glories.

"I'm not sure I deserve this accolade, I'm surprised by it. I'm probably a source of pride for the faculty, but I've pursued my career without thinking about such things.," he said.
