Following a short-term loan spell at UAE’’s Al-Wasl, Shikabala was surprisingly released by the Dubai club before Zamalek failed to register him during of the winter break.
The 27-year-old was not even allowed to train with his team by manager Jorvan Vieira, but is now ready to be added to the Whites roster in the summer.
“All the returning players Shikabala, Hani Saied and Ahmed Al-Merghani will be prepared for the Champions League opening,” Zamalek assistant coach Osama Nabih told the club’s website.
“Unfortunately they cannot take part in the Egyptian league final playoff by the end of June.”
Defender Saied and midfielder Al-Merghani spent the past six months on loan at the Gulf with Dhofar or Oman and Tadamon of Kuwait.
Zamalek will kick off their Champions League group campaign against holders Ahli in the second half of July.
