Fans of Ahli, Zamalek, Ismaili and Ittihad watched their teams from the stands despite the FA’s persistence on holding all games behind closed doors.
Even though they allowed the fans to enter in order to avoid clashes, security forces supervised by the ministry of interior seem unwilling to remain in charge of football matches.
“We have been informed by the ministry that security forces refuse to stage any further domestic games,” FA board member Mahmoud Al-Shami told FilGoal.com.
It remains to be seen how the FA will react to the ministry decision, with one round remaining in the Egyptian Premier League season.
The FA announced postponing all league matches indefinitely last week, shortly before backtracking following the approval of security forces.
The 18th round will only be crucial for bottom clubs as the top four teams taking part in the final playoff are already determined.
