Mohamed Barakat firmly insists on his retirement decision despite teammate Wael Gomaa revealing that he might back down.

Ahli skipper Gomaa claimed that Barakat is willing to stay on for another season if he was allowed to do a part-time job as a TV presenter.

However, the 36-year-old was quick to deny his teammate’s claims.

“I have no intention to backtrack on retirement now. I believe I’ve made the right decision at the right time,” Barakat told FilGoal.com.

“I’ve said before that I wish to retire on top form. I don’t like to quit because I have to.”

With the domestic season set to be called off by the FA, Barakat is set to be officially out of contract as Ahli prepare to take on Zamalek in the CAF Champions League this month.
