The timing of the anticipated group-stage opener has been facing confusion over the past day after both clubs announced different dates for the game hosted by Zamalek.
"CAF decided to stage the game on Wednesday due to marketing reasons although we had initially suggested Monday," a Zamalek official told the club's website.
The Egypt derby will be staged at Gouna Stadium during the fasting hours of the holy month of Ramadan due to security reasons.
