Reigning African champions Ahli are set to open their new season against Zamalek next week, but this time they will be without long-serving duo Barakat and Ghaly.
As Barakat announced his retirement and Ghaly left to join Lierse, Abou-Treika is solely left with the task of inspiring the Reds for more trophies.
“Yes the absence of Barakat and Ghaly will have an impact on the team,” the Egypt midfielder told Ahli’s website.
“I think their exits will leave a big void inside the pitch because both of them were key players for Ahli.
“But also I hope the players on board will play a vital role in lifting the team in the upcoming period starting with the game against Zamalek.”
