The African champions had to wait till the final 20 minutes to register all three points, courtesy of a spot kick from Abdullah Al-Saied and another goal from young forward Amr Gamal.
The Reds join MCDR, who beat Gouna 1-0 earlier on the day, as the only winners in Group A.
An eventless game saw action begin after 70 minutes when Al-Saied, who also scored Ahli's goal against Military Production in their last game, converted from the spot after ex-Egypt defender Amr Fahim felled young right-back Ahmed Nabil 'Manga' inside the area.
Manga was then superbly involved in Ahli's second of the night with a pinpoint cross from the right, with sub Gamal putting the needed touch to slot home seven minutes from time and ensure the Reds' first three points of the season.
