Amir Azmy sidelined indefinitely

Egypt and Paok defender Amir Azmy Megahed will be ruled out of action indefinitely due to a knee injury, the player's father said on Tuesday.

Azmy Megahed Senior, a Zamalek board member, told FilGoal.com that Amir sustained the injury during his side's 2-2 draw in the Greek League.

The UEFA official website reported that the former Zamalek full back will be out till the end of the season after undergoing a surgery to repair the damaged ligaments.

The news comes as blow for Amir's hopes to join the national side playing in the African Cup of Nations in Egypt next January.
