Zamalek board of directors has decided to appoint Mahmoud Saad as an interim coach of the football team until they find a foreign replacement for Portuguese Manuel Cajuda who was sacked last Friday.

The club’s board convened early on Thursday following Zamalek’s Arab Champions League defeat to Qadsia of Kuwait.

Saad, who was recently appointed in charge of Zamalek’s youth academy, will choose his assisting technical staff, the club announced.

He will return to his duty as head of the youth academy once Zamalek find a new foreign coach to lead the team in the upcoming period.

Cajuda was fired from his post last week following Zamalek’s surprise 2-0 defeat to Masri in the local league.

His assistant, Ahmed Ramzi, was put in charge of the team for their match against Qadsia, which Zamalek lost 2-1.
