Chelsea's first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is fit to play after a four-month layoff due to an operation to fix a fractured skull, coach Jose Mourinho said.

"I can tell you as a joke I have a £50 million player on Monday," Mourinho was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Network on Saturday.

"He is back, he is ready to play and he can play the next game. The player is the best goalkeeper in world."

The Czech international was stretchered off the pitch at Reading in October after colliding with midfielder Stephen Hunt.

Cech was thought to need the whole season on the sidelines before recovering but he took part in Chelsea's warm-up before the 4-0 Wigan victory on Saturday wearing a protective headgear.

Mourinho hinted that Liverpool clash might be marking the 24-year-old Cech comeback.

"I have to decide whether to keep Hilario in the goal for a couple more weeks but Petr's ready for the game," the Portuguese manager said.

Portuguese Hilario, signed as a reserve goalie, was suddenly promoted to the first team after Cech's deputy Carlo Cudicini was forced out through injury.
