Masri secure top flight status
Masri and Arab Contractors have guaranteed their Egyptian League safety following victories over Petrojet and Tersana respectively on Sunday.

At Port Said Stadium, Masri faced no difficulty in crushing Petrojet 4-1 as the latter couldn't replicate the form that saw them claim a 2-2 draw against Ahli last week.

Mohamed Al-Etrawi fired the hosts in front in the 11th minute before Osama Azab doubled the lead five minutes before the interval.

Mohamed Al-Gabbas added the third in the 78th minute and defender Karim Zekri, who is set to join Zamalek at the end of the season, completed the rout one minute from time but was sent-off three minutes into stoppage time.

Alaa Ibrahim scored the consolation for the petroleum club just before the final whistle.

The victory lifted Masri to tenth place in the league table with 32 points, ten ahead of Tanta, who lie third from bottom, with three matches to go.

Elsewhere, Nigerian striker Minusu Buba notched home in the 70th minute to lead Arab Contractors to a 1-0 home win over Tersana.

Contractors are ninth on 33 points while Tersana lie 13th on 29 points as they need three more points from their remaining three matches to stay in the top flight next season.

Hopes of Asyut Petroleum and Tanta to survive relegation have received a massive blow after they played out a goalless draw.

Tanta are 14th with 22 points, two ahead of Asyut who lie at the bottom.
