France captain Patrick Vieira has been ruled out of Les Bleus back-to-back UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers against Ukraine and Georgia on June 2nd and 6th respectively, manager Raymond Domenech confirmed.

The Inter Milan midfielder damaged knee ligaments in his side's Coppa Italia final clash with AS Roma last week.

"He is definitely out," Domenech was quoted saying by UEFA.com.

"We cannot include him. He needs rest so that he can return in the best possible condition."

The 31-year-old has just recently returned from a lengthy absence with a hamstring injury that kept him on the sidelines for most of the season.

France are currently tied with Ukraine and Scotland on 12 points in the heated Group B, with world champions Italy keeping the chase with the top trio.
