Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of veteran goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez from Real Zaragoza on Tuesday.

The London club did not announce further details of the contract of the 36-year-old, who is likely to be used as backup to Brazil keeper Gomes.

Cesar joined Zaragoza from Real Madrid in 2005, after he had played second fiddle to Spain's number one Iker Casillas for long spells at Santiago Bernabeu.

The 2002 Champions League winner established himself as one of the most solid guardians in the Primera Liga in recent years, despite Zaragoza's relegation last season.
