Chelsea defender John Terry has been cleared to play against Manchester United in the Premiership this Sunday after his three-match ban was successfully appealed.

The England skipper was sent off in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday after a professional foul on City striker Jo. However, television replays showed that Terry wasn’t the last defender as Ricardo Carvalho was covering him.

"At an independent regulatory ommission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea's John Terry was upheld," The English Football Association announced on their website on Tuesday.

"As a result of today's hearing, Terry's three match suspension has been withdrawn."

The ban overturn will be a massive boost to Chelsea, who will now have their skipper ready to face United, Stoke and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
