Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Abdullah is set to be sidelined for three weeks after sustaining an injury during the club’s Friday friendly against Menouf.

“Scans confirmed that the player is suffering from a right knee cap and will be out for up to three weeks,” club doctor Moastafa El-Monayeri told FilGoal.com on Saturday.

The news will come as a massive blow to coach Reiner Hollmann, who will have to do without Abdullah in the league games against Al-Geish and Olympic.

The German’s saving grace will be the return of Mahmoud Abul-Razeq ‘Shikabala’, who should be back to play against Olympic after serving a four-months suspension.

Meanwhile, striker Abdul-Halim striker failed to show up for the team’s Saturday morning training session.

Ali stressed that missing the session wasn’t intentional, adding that he totally respects his current contract with the club.

“I didn’t even know there was a morning training session today,” Ali told FilGoal.com on Saturday.

The player earlier announced his intention to depart The Whites in January after being jeered by the club fans against Menough.

“It is true I’ve already decided to leave, but I’m 100% committed to professionally fulfil my contract until my last day at club.”
