The home crowd persistently booed Sobhi during Ismaili’s 4-1 victory over the Bahrain side in the second-leg of the Arab Champions League round of 32.
“I lost my temper due to the fans’ behavior,” he told FilGoal.com on Thursday.
“I was forced to reply and I had a chance to do so when I blocked a penalty for Busaiteen. The fans should show more respect for us if we are to behave well.”
The 27-year-old guardian stirred anger among Ismaili fans when his faults allowed Police Union to defeat the Dervishes 2-0 in the Egyptian League last week.
Despite being Ismaili’s first-choice goalie for more than seven years, Sobhi never really impressed between the sticks.
He was often criticized for lack of consistency as well as committing dreadful errors in high-profile games.
