Ghazl Mahalla defender Iyad Salah has suddenly left the club to seek an opportunity in Greece, after failing to agree a new contract with the Egyptian Premier League side.

The Egyptian under 21 international departed to Greece right after taking part in a Mahalla friendly on Saturday.

Mahalla football director Mohamed Hilal told FilGoal.com that the club will inform the Egyptian FA of the incident to secure the club’s financial rights in case Salah signs for any Greek side.

While Salah was offered no more than EGP 10,000 per season to stay at Mahalla, the defender was left fuming to find out that the club offered under 21 compatriot Ahmed Magdi nearly EGP 100,000 per season.

The 20-year-old, who can play as a sweeper and at right-back, is yet to play for Mahalla’s first team, despite his promotion from the club’s youth ranks in the summer.
