Ismaili midfielder Ahmed Khairi believes he needs to gain more experience if he is to forge a successful career abroad.

The 22-year-old has earned plaudits for a series of impressive displays that helped him earn an Egypt call-up.

Local reports said scouts from Tottenham Hotspur were monitoring his progress but Khairi does not think about a European adventure.

"I need to play one or two more seasons in the Egyptian league to gain the experience needed for European football," he told FilGoal.com on Thursday.

"I neither await a European offer nor interested in any move. If I undergo a trial at any English club now for instance I will not succeed.

"I should play international matches with Egypt and play with Ismaili in African competitions to become capable of playing in Europe."

Khairi has admirably filled the void left by Hosni Abd-Rabou's departure to UAE side Ahli last summer.

He formed a fine partnership with Ismaili skipper Mohamed Hommos in the heart of Ismaili's midfield.
