Inter Milan have declared the contract of their Brazilian striker Adriano null and void, after the controversial player showed lack of commitment.

The 27-year-old hasn't reported from international duty for more than three weeks, as he preferred to spend some time in his homeland on an unauthorized vacation.

The Serie A club confirmed the striker's contract has been rescinded upon both parties' agreement, and now he's free to sign for any other outfit.

"FC Internazionale would like to communicate that the contract of Adriano Leite Ribeiro has been mutually rescinded with effect from April 1 2009," an Inter statement reads.

"The documents have reached the National League of Professional players.

"A hug to Adriano on behalf of all at Inter for 8 years and 74 goals lived together."

The international hitman was last seen in a football game in Brazil's 3-0 win over Peru in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, when he was sitting on the bench.
