Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could well become the next Real Madrid coach if Florentino Perez wins the club's upcoming elections to be held on June 15th.

According to Spanish reports, Perez already delegated Real's ex- coach and football director Jorge Valdano to meet and hold talks with Wenger in Paris last week.

It is believed that Perez himself spoke to Wenger over the phone, and that the French tactician is open to taking over Los Merengues in the summer.

Wenger previously snubbed Real on two occasions in 2003 and 2006, but the former Monaco boss is likely to accept the Spanish giants' offer this time around.

"With Perez, the Real Madrid project will be strongly interesting for every coach," Wenger told TF1.

Wenger refused to deny making contact with Perez, adding that he wouldn’t want to elaborate on the issue for the time being.

"Allow me to remain discreet on that matter," he added.

Arsenal Rift

Relation between Wenger and Arsenal has not been at its best of a late after the tactician was criticised for finishing a fourth season without any silverware.

The 59-year-old was also dismayed at the lack of funds made available by the board for new summer transfers.

The Arsenal board are prepared to let Wenger spend no more than 15 million Euros on new players, a budget subject to increase if Emmanuel Adebayor is sold.

Wenger has been coaching Arsenal for 13 years now, through which he won three Premiership titles and four FA Cups.
