Germany plan to tighten security for their national team at next year's World Cup finals in South Africa, the country's football federation said.

"We will have more own security personnel than before," German Football Federation (DFB) official Helmut Spahn told SportBild magazine.

"We are in contact with several companies."

Three-time world champion Germany are worried over South Africa's high crime rates.

Spahn is set to fly to South Africa, who will become the first African country to host the World Cup, at the end of the week to inspect the team's hotel near Pretoria.

Egypt complained about lack of adequate security measures during the Confederations Cup in June after several players were robbed.
