Atletico appoint Flores after sacking Resino

Former Spain international Sanchez Flores has been named Atletico Madrid coach, following the sacking of Abel Resino on Friday, the Spanish club said.

Coach Resino has been relieved of his duties after Atletico's 4-0 drubbing at Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The former Atletico keeper leaves the team in 15th place in the Spanish Primera Liga, with six points from seven matches.

Sanchez Flores, 44, will be presented to the media on Monday after Atletico vist Real Mallorca at the weekend.

Assistant coach Santi Denia will be in charge of the team during the league clash.
