Mohamed Zidan shook off a thigh complaint to take part in Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 home victory over Freiburg which lifted them to fourth place in the last Bundesliga match in 2009 on Saturday.

The Egypt striker dished out two assists in Dortmund's 3-1 win over Wolfsburg last week but was substituted on the hour mark after sustaining the injury.

It was a minor one though as he recovered in time to partner Lucas Barrios upfront against Freiburg.

On a snowy day in Germany, In-form Argentinean striker Barrios scored the winner after 19 minutes when he rose unmarked to head home a left-wing cross from Marcel Schmelzer.

He took his tally to nine Bundesliga goals, three behind the competition's top scorer Stefan Kiessling.

Zidan, who scored two league goals so far this season, was replaced one minute from time, making way for Brazilian defender Felipe Santana.

Dortmund, who extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games, have 30 points from 17 games.

With just five points separating them from leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who defeated Monchengladbach 3-2, Jurgen Klopp's side could now mount a serious challenge for the title they last won in 2002.

The Bundesliga winter break will last until on January 15.
