Bayern Munich struggled to register a 2-1 win over Manchester United in a pulsating UEFA Champions League quarter final game at Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Evergreen marksman Wayne Rooney put the visitors ahead in the second minute after volleying home a Nani free kick.

The Bavarians had many failed attacks till Franck Ribery brought the score level on 77 minutes when his free kick deflected off the wall and into the net.

Ivica Olic came out of the blue to hit a last-gasp winner for the hosts only seconds before the final whistle.

The Croatian ace cut inside to wrong foot keeper Edwin van der Sar, who produced a host of magnificent saves throughout the match, and score with aplomb.

Much to United's dissatisfaction, Rooney limped off the pitch with a foot injury by the end of the game.

It's yet to be known how bad Rooney's injury is.

The second leg between Bayern and United takes place on April 6th at Old Trafford.
