A friendly match between Zamalek and Aswan was about to be abandoned on Monday due to an electricity outage at Helmi Zamora Stadium.

The game was halted for 15 minutes before the electricity was restored. Zamalek eventually beat their opponents 3-1.

The scoreline was 2-1 when the lights went off.

Recurring power outages have been common throughout Egypt over the past few months.

Zamalek trio Emad Mohamed, Hani Saied and Alaa Ali scored one apiece. Aswan's Youssef Gamal got his name on the score sheet too.

The Cairo giants got themselves into hot water when they lost 3-1 to ENPPI in their third Egyptian Premier League match.

Hossam Hassan's side are to play a number of friendly games during the ongoing league stoppage.
