Egyptian FA president Samir Zaher insists that the disciplinary committee will take action against those involved in any inappropriate incident during last week’s Cairo derby.

The league’s top match between arch-rivals Ahli and Zamalek resulted in a 0-0 draw that witnessed some exchange of hostile chants between both clubs’ fans.

The major talking points, however, was an alleged confrontation between Zamalek ace Shikabala and the Ahli ultras, amid claims that former raised his boots before the Reds’ contingent.

“There will be punishments. The sanctions will involve players, officials and supporters from both clubs,” Zaher, who refused to name individuals, told FilGoal.com.

The FA’s disciplinary committee will meet this week before making its announcements regarding the events of the match.

Zaher also urged officials to inhibit flashing banners in the stands, stressing that the messages made by fans are often meant to provoke opposition teams.
