Esperance have been ordered to play their next two home matches in the CAF Champions League behind closed doors following a series of violent incidents in the final game against Mazembe.

African football governing body CAF announced the verdict, imposing a $52,000 fine against the Tunisian club who lost 6-1 on aggregate to holders Mazembe of DR Congo.

The incidents included riots from the home fans in the 1-1 second leg draw in Rades, where bottles were thrown at the VIP tribune.

The Esperance fans were angry with CAF as they blamed referee Kokou Djaoupe for their 5-0 first-leg defeat in Lubumbashi.

In the same subject, midfielder Aymen Ben Amour has been hit by a six-match ban after being sent off in the second leg for spitting at an opponent.

Esperance were hit by a similar fine in November and ordered to cover the damages caused by their fans at Cairo Stadium during the first-leg semi-final with Ahli.
