Ismaili-bound striker Alex Asamoah is relishing the prospect of joining the coastal club after being told that Dervishes style of play resembles that of Barcelona.

The Asante Kotoko ace, who was also targeted by Zamalek, chose Ismaili over the Cairo giants following some advice by fellow Ghanaians in the Egyptian Premier League.

“I was approached by Zamalek earlier but I turned down the offer after Rahim Ayew (ex-Zamalek) warned me,” Asamoah told FilGoal.com.

“Ayew told me that African players have no role at Zamalek in the meantime.

“But my friend Eric Bekoe (former Kotoko and current Petrojet striker) advised me to join Ismaili. He told me that they play like Barcelona!

“I also chose Ismaili over offers from Gulf clubs because I feel that the Egyptian league could be my way to Europe.”

Asamoah arrived in Ismailia on Wednesday and is expected to sign a contract with the Dervishes this week.
