Egyptian striker Ahmed Ali and coach Mokhtar Mokhtar helped Hilal and Wehda reach the Saudi Crown Prince Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Ali scored his first goal for Hilal as the Saudi champions edged Ahli Jeddah 4-3 on penalties, following a 2-2 draw in Riyadh.

The on-loan Ismaili hitman opened the scoring after 19 minutes, tapping in a wonderful team move from Hilal.

Two minutes before half time, midfielder Ahmed Al-Fraidi doubled the lead with a magnificent individual effort, once again involving great teamwork.

In the second half, Ahli came back roaring as they leveled the scoring within eight minutes, thanks to goals from Malik Moaz and Brazilian Victor Simoes.

The match went to penalties and Hilal guardian Hassan Al-Otaibi was the hero after saving three spot kicks, including two from goalscorers Moaz and Simoes.

In Buraidah, Mokhtar’s Wehda came back from behind to draw 1-1 with Raed before beating their hosts 4-2 on penalties.
