The Arab FA is considering the possible means of sending Egypt midfielder Hesham Mohamed to the Olympics despite the horrific injury that ruled him out of the London finals.

Hesham, who has just joined MCDR from Ahli, broke his ankle after receiving a vicious tackle from an opponent in Egypt’s Arab Nations Cup opener against Sudan.

The 22-year-old was accordingly ruled out of next month’s Olympics but still has the chance of watching his teammates in the English capital.

The Egyptian FA said on its website that officials from the Arab FA are considering offering Hesham a private invitation to the Olympics as a sign of ‘moral support’.

The FA also said that the suggestion was made by Arab FA vice-president Mohamed Raouraoua and the tournament’s GM Saied Jamaan.

Algerian Raouraoua is well-known to Egyptian fans for being involved in a series of confrontations with former EFA chief Samir Zaher during the infamous saga of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, even though the duo had patched things up before the latter's exit.
