Egypt midfielder Mohamed Shawky will leave Ahli by mutual consent, the league champions said on Thursday.
"Shawky submitted a transfer request and it was accepted," read a statement on the club's website.
The 31-year-old Egyptian's request comes as no surpise knowing that his chances to feature in Hossam Al-Badri's plans for the next season were limited.
Shawky has told the club that he doesn't mind a move out on loan for at least one season, leaving the door open to his return next summer.
Seen as an integral part of Ahli's roster since moving to from Masri in 2003, Shawky has won two CAN titles with Egypt.
His most memorable goal for Egypt came in the thrilling 4-3 defeat against Brazil in the 2009 Confederations Cup.
