Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce reiterated that he's going to do his best to keep prolific hitman Amr Zaki within his squad.

The well-built forward has been tipped to leave the Latics in the winter transfer window after several high-profile clubs unveiled their interest in acquiring his services.

With striker Emile Heskey also linked with a move in January, Wigan's frontline options could become far from being adequate soon.

"That it is the problem we have always got to contend with. I will do my utmost, the last thing I want to do is dismantle what we have put together," the coach told skysports.com.

"We have some players nearing the end of their contracts. The honest answer is that we will do everything we possibly can to keep hold of them."

However, the former Manchester United player said his club might be lured should a lucrative bid was made.

"If we get a really fantastic offer then we might have to think about it. It is a big decision. Do we gamble and cash-in? Or do we keep them until end of the season to make sure we are safe in the Premier League?"

Egyptian international Zaki joined the Premiership side earlier this year on a season-long loan from Zamalek, and the latter are solely entitled to decide on his future.
