Gregorio Manzano has succeeded Antonio Alvarez as Sevilla boss after the Spanish side embarrassingly lost 2-0 to promoted team Hercules in a La Liga match on Sunday.
One day after the game Sevilla announced on their official website the appointment of Manzano, who took charge of a number of Spanish top-flight clubs throughout his career.
Alvarez had been installed at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in March and helped the Rojiblancos to a top-four finish last term.
However, he failed to keep them on an even keel this season and was eventually relieved of his duties.
Sevilla will play their first competitive match under Manzano against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
