Iraqi striker Emad Mohamed decided to part company with Zamalek because he couldn't prove his worth at the Cairo side.

Emad, the Iran Pro League top scorer last term with a 19-goal tally, joined the Whites in the close season right after his contract with Sepahan Esfahan expired.

The 28-year-old, who has hardly featured for Zamalek so far this season, got fed up with his lack of first-team opportunities.

Now he's expected to return to Iran after Esteghlal revealed interest in his services.

"I wanted to prove my worth with a new club but I couldn't," Emad was quoted by Iraq News as saying.

"Playing at the Iran Pro League will definitely give me more strength. I love that competition.

"Now I'm waiting to sit down with Esteghlal's officials to start negotiations."

Emad came on as a second-half substitute only on few occasions this term. Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan has fielded Amr Zaki, Abou Kone and Ahmed Gaafar upfront more often.
